Cloud consultation, Microsoft 365 migration and training

Patrick Bird of InterActive Performance Management Ltd provides coaching and training to individuals and teams. They use experimental learning and Forum Theatre techniques to equip clients with practical tools and behaviours that will transform organisational performance.

Like many businesses, Patrick found his business had grown after having purchased a variety of software which had suited his immediate needs. However day-to-day tasks were becoming too onerous as these systems did not communicate with each other and were not well integrated.


Patrick approached and participated in a cloud review consultation when he shared his difficulties, what he wanted to improve upon and where he was headed. compiled their findings and suggestions into a cloud review report.

Amongst other needs, there were several upcoming projects where collaboration and the ability to share documents and communicate more easily would be important. The facility to hold online meetings and presentations was desirable. Information such as contact information was not readily accessible on all devices and was split across several systems making communication difficult.

It was established that an Microsoft 365 business package would resolve most of the problems and provide many of the features required immediately and in future. Office 365 provided the document collaboration tools, cloud storage, email, calendar and contact management, web conferencing and more. It would also work seamlessly across all devices so to become more mobile and make the best use of existing investments.

Microsoft 365 migration migrated Patrick’s email, calendars and contacts from numerous sources to the cloud, and created automated rules to separate his personal mail. This consolidated his email, contacts, calendars, and other data ensuring that everything was available from any of his devices. This was achieved with no downtime to Patrick so he could get on with business as usual.

Patrick also started to make use of the unlimited cloud storage included with Microsoft 365 by moving from DropBox to OneDrive for Business. This secured his data and made it available from wherever he was working on any device. It also allowed Patrick to collaborate in real time on documents with third-parties even if they don’t have Office.

To save a little time, a new internet domain was created so that clients could email Patrick with a shortened email address, which was still delivered in the same way along with his other mail.

Office was set up on Patrick’s Windows 8.1 laptop, his Samsung Android-based phone, and tablet.

Training and support

Following the migration, Patrick was able to start using his new services straight away but he knew he could make best use of his investment with a little more guidance. He had also experienced a few minor teething issues with the service. put together a tailored on-site day that provided time to fix existing issues, provide support, and answer queries. The day also included one-to-one training on Outlook, OneDrive for Business, Office Online, OneNote and Skype for Business. Patrick also received “take-away” training resources as part of the deal.
